Complaints and appeals.

A certification only means something if it can be challenged. There are two routes below. Both have published timelines. Both go to one named contact.

ROUTE 01

A complaint about a certified organization

Use this route if you believe a certified organization is displaying the Ethicality Badge outside its scope, after expiry, or in a way that misstates what certification means.

  1. Send it

    Email aiden@ethicality.ai with the subject line "Badge complaint". Include the organization's name, where you saw the badge, and what you believe is wrong. A screenshot or link helps.

  2. We acknowledge

    By the next business day.

  3. We assess

    Within 15 business days we review the claim against the certificate scope and the badge license, and we ask the organization to respond.

  4. We close it

    You are told the outcome in writing. If the badge is being misused, the organization has ten business days to correct it. Where the certification is suspended or withdrawn, the registry entry records the status and the date.

ROUTE 02

An appeal against an Ethicality decision

Use this route if you are an applicant or a certification holder and you disagree with an assessment finding, a certification decision, a suspension, or a withdrawal.

  1. Send it

    Email aiden@ethicality.ai with the subject line "Appeal", within 20 business days of the decision. Set out which finding you are appealing and why.

  2. We acknowledge

    By the next business day.

  3. Independent review

    Within 20 business days the appeal is reviewed by a member of the Ethicality Advisory Board who was not involved in the original decision.

  4. We decide

    The outcome and the reasons are given in writing. An appeal may be escalated once. The decision after escalation is final.

What we do not handle

We do not resolve commercial disputes between an organization and its clients, and we do not act as a regulator. We can only act on matters inside the scope of a certification we issued.

Read the contractual terms

Ethicality is a private certification program. An Ethicality Badge reflects an independent assessment of the AI-use practices an organization disclosed to us, against the published EAUS standard, as at the assessment date. It does not certify compliance with any law.
